Little Lissandro Formica is affectionately called “Elvissandro” by others since he loves Elvis Presley so much.
He fell in love with music at the age of five, with his dad introducing him to “The King”.
So naturally, on The Voice Kids France, the little king took to the stage ready to sing one of Presley’s songs.
Now there are so many Elvis hits to choose from so Lissandro could have gone any way he wanted to.
Songs like “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Love Me Tender,” “All Shook Up,” “Teddy Bear,” and “Jailhouse Rock.”
“Too Much” was released in January 1957 and was Presley’s fifth regular single record issue on the RCA Victor label.
The followed “Love Me Tender” and preceded “All Shook Up,” which were both massive number one hits for Elvis.
What’s odd is that “Too Much” has been given little respect among his many songs as it did not reach #1 on Billboard magazine’s “Top 100” pop chart.
“Too Much” only got to the second spot, which in Presley’s day, was a huge disappointment since he was accustomed to being number one all the time.
Maybe that’s why little Lissandro chose to bring the song back that night.
He may be small, but he stands confidently on that stage ready to rock and roll as if he’s the king of the world.
And that’s precisely the attitude Elvis would want from him.
“Well honey I love you
Too much
I need your loving
Too much
Want the thrill of
Your touch
Gee I can’t love
Too much”
That repetitive crooning was a hit back in the day.
And now this little French kid is bringing it back for the coaches and the audience to enjoy.
The song did miss the top spot on Billboard’s major pop chart, but “Too Much” did reach number one on the magazine’s separate “Top Sellers” pop chart.
Then it spent three weeks at number one on Cashbox magazine’s “Best Selling Singles” chart.
It went on to peak at number three on both of Billboard’s “Hot Country Singles” and “Hot Rhythm and Blues Singles” charts.
Which means it kept playing on the radio, everywhere, almost all the time.
And now because of Lissandro, people will be searching for “Too Much” online.
Just listen to this kid sing Elvis.
He’s got the energy to sustain the somewhat fast paced melody of the song.
He’s not running out of breath!
In fact, he’s got them all dancing.
From his family backstage, to the host, the audience, and even two coaches who turned that big space into a makeshift dance floor.
This kid is so talented and so likeable all four spun on their seats!
At such a young age, Lissandro has the confidence to perform.
We cannot wait to see this kid in a decade or so.
Let’s hope he chooses a career in music because his Elvis inside is just begging to be unleashed.
