Some people are afraid to let loose in public, be themselves, and have fun.

But not dancers Uncle Azeez, Nelson, and Kao.

They’ll bust out some dance moves in the middle of the street in the name of a good time and making people smile.

It’s the sort of thing they’ve been doing all of their lives growing up in Nigeria, Tanzania, and South Africa.

The video of them stopping traffic near the National Mall with their moves recently went viral.

The trio said they wanted to make the video to help uplift spirits after the difficult year the pandemic thrust upon us.

The trio stopped traffic with their dancing wearing nothing but flip-flops, a towel, and a hat or shower cap.

Others crossing the street even stopped to record their dance performance on their phones.

They shook their butts for over a minute in that street. Others nearby also joined in and started dancing behind them.

“We just wanted to brighten people’s day and spread the rich African culture,” Azeez Idowu, one of the dancers, told CNN.

Not sure how the people sitting in traffic felt about watching people shake their asses across the crosswalk while they were waiting but the people dancing were enjoying themselves as did some of the hundreds of thousands of people who watched the video on the internet.

“That’s a long traffic light. Dammit D.C. lol,” one YouTuber joked.

FOX 5 reports that the trio said those in traffic didn’t seem to mind waiting while they performed.

They also said that the other dancers joined in spontaneously after hearing the music and seeing them boogie down. It looks like a prom or fancy party joined in.

The song they were all dancing to is a South African song called “Woza” by Mr. JazziQ, Kabaza De Small, Lady Du on the Party With the English album.

The trio are said to be the originators of the Woza Train Challenge where people dance in a line at crosswalks.

“The dance are South African too, it’s currently a dance challenge in the country, the genre is called Amapiano and it is taking the world by storm for those of you who do not know,” one YouTuber commented.

The trio told FOX 5 that they truly enjoyed bringing some of their African culture to D.C. and to keep an eye out for them in neighborhoods across the U.S.

“I love random acts of fun like this. Sometimes we just need a whole break from the routine, right in the middle of a crosswalk,” said another YouTuber.
