Idina plays the Wicked Witch of the West while Kristin plays Glinda.

The scene starts as Elphaba begins to have a realization that she doesn’t have to be so bad—prompting her to sing beautifully.

After singing her heart out, Elphaba asks a reluctant Glinda to get on her broom with her.

Elphaba breaks into another gorgeous song as Glinda slowly walks over and grabs ahold of her broom, realizing she’s actually changed for the better.

That’s when the song becomes a duet, with Elphaba and Glinda putting their vocal ranges on full display.

Still holding onto the broom, both actresses stunned the star-studded crowd at the Tony Awards—but their performance isn’t over yet.

Soldiers join in the performance, rushing the stage and grabbing ahold of Glinda before Elphaba does something completely out of character.

The Wicked Witch of the West is known for her cruelty, so when she sacrifices herself for Glinda by telling the soldiers she’s the one they want it proves that she actually has changed. The soldiers turn their attention on Elphaba, but the clever witch won’t be captured so easily.

Just when it seems like the soldiers might have Elphaba, she defies gravity bringing about one of the climaxes of the Broadway play.

The best part is yet to come, and it leaves the audience in complete shock and awe.

That’s when Elphaba is hoisted high into the air, riding her broom as she begins singing another solo.

She floats high above the stage for quite some time, singing as Glinda and the soldiers look up at her in amazement.

The production of Wicked is just out of this world—it’s no wonder Idina went on to win a Tony Award for her role as Elphaba!
