Before the COVID-19 pandemic turned everyone’s lives upside down, people milled around shopping malls. At the same time, police officers had to deal with a lot less stress. Thankfully, we have a massive library of videos online to remind us what life will once again be after this crisis ends.

One of those videos was uploaded in 2017. Since then, more than 12.5 million viewers have enjoyed watching it. For those of you who don’t know who Brendan Kavanagh is, this man is a world-renowned Boogie-woogie piano player. His favorite thing is to visit places like shopping malls where he entertains unsuspecting people.

Just an ordinary day

Just as Kavanagh has done so many times in the past, on this particular day, he headed to the mall. Initially, you see two uniformed officers. As part of their duties, they look out for shoplifters and overall, keep shoppers safe.

But wait…that one officer looks really familiar

Yep, it’s none other than Brendan Kavanagh. You see, in addition to joining other people playing the piano, he loves dressing up as different characters. That’s when he sits down on the stool and blows people away with his unrivaled talent.

Immediately people stop to listen

Within less than five seconds after Kavanagh starts to play his famous Boogie-woogie music, people notice. Some even pull out their phones to start to video the event. We’ll never know if any of them realize that’s Kavanagh at the piano. But what we do know is this “officer” is incredibly gifted.

Tickling the ivories

The more Kavanagh plays the more people stop to listen. Even the individuals walking past are impressed that a police officer is so good on the piano. Especially the Boogie-woogie, which isn’t the easiest genre of music to play.

A duo performance

At just 26 seconds into the video, the second “officer” joins in. We have no clue who this woman is but she’s almost as good as Kavanagh. That speaks volumes to her level of skill.

The crowd keeps growing

As the sound of the music fills the shopping mall, the number of people who come by to watch increases. One woman who started filming from the beginning walks over to the woman’s side of the piano to zoom in on their hands as they play.

Their fingers are flying

With each stroke of the keys, Kavanagh and his partner’s fingers move faster and faster. Even if this video didn’t have any sound, which fortunately it does, you’d have to marvel at the speed at which they play.

Who knew police officers could Boogie-woogie like this?

The people who have no idea who these “officers” are don’t realize they’re being entertained by one of the best Boogie-woogie players in the world. What a special treat.

It’s bigger than we thought

As the videographer pans to the other side of Kavanagh and his “partner in crime,” you can see just how large the crowd is. At this point, people are more interested in hearing these talented piano players than they are shopping. And we can’t blame them.

Switching things up

To give the Boogie-woogie song a little bit different sound, the two of them switch places. Now, Kavanagh is hitting the high notes while the woman is on the low notes. Regardless of which spot on the bench they choose…the music sounds fantastic.

The finale

Once Kavanagh and his piano-playing partner finish, the crowd gives them a well-deserved round of applause. As you scan the crowd, you’ll notice one specific thing — every single person has a big smile plastered on their face.
