Rock and roll dominated popular music in the mid-1950s, and there was incredible growth in popularity of the big boom electric guitar.
Those were the years of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Fats Domino and many other artists whose names will forever be carved in music history.
The decade’s music was dominated and defined by various genres: jazz, blues, doo-wop, pop, country music and swing.
Let’s take a look at people having fun on Saturday night in the 50s.
We would love to have this kind of dancing back!
Those were the years when teenagers went dancing, and they all loved it.
Dance was a common thing, and we can see some impressive lindy hop moves in the video. Lindy hop is part of the swing dance family, and it evolved during the late 1930s. It is also frequently described as jazz dance.
It’s believed that this dance creates a lot of excitement in the ones doing the dance and from those watching.
Well, that’s something we can relate to because of our level of excitement while watching the video—it reached some very high points. If this was what it was like to go out those days, we would never be home!
What an amazing video to remember some old times.
From the way these teenagers dance to the way they’re dressed, all of it wakes up some nostalgia.
People in this video might be someone’s great grandparents today!
Time flies, but the people in this video were doing some outstanding dance moves.
It’s how life goes, and most of them will have great memories to tell their grandkids. Moreover, we get the sense that the people from this video will stay young at heart forever. We bet half of them could still dance the shoes off partners half their age!
That’s just how they lived: cokes in 6-ounce bottles for a nickel and beer was only 69 cents for a six pack.
Above all else, it was a rock n’ roll culture and everyone knew how to dance!
We are really happy to get some perspective on this decade.
It’s good to have videos like this. All of us could take some inspiration from these dancers. As this clip shows, life can be a lot of fun—it’s all a state of mind. You can still grow old and stay young at heart. Life can be the way you choose it to be.
When we think about how things are now compared to how things were, a sudden wish to swing dance suddenly appears.
Granted, there are some things we can’t get back—but luckily dancing and music are not those things. After all, people still dance like this at certain clubs!
In case you’re interested, do a little research about the clubs in your area that teach Jive, Jitterbug and similar dances!
This video alone has more than 12 million YouTube views!
It says a lot about people who haven’t forgotten the era that rock and roll started to blossom. People enjoyed the music, and most of us want a glimpse of that feeling today. Just look at the comments section!
Everyone’s overwhelmed with excitement.
We felt the vibe too. Above all, it’s good that the past is not forgotten. Even so, we should all live in the present and take inspiration from the best things that happened before us. That seems like the right recipe.
