Kristen Cruz is not just any barista. She’s a talented young woman who works as a barista but at the same time she’s trying to follow her dream which is no other than to become a famous singer.

Kristen comes from Irving, Texas, and she appeared in last week’s episode of America’s Got Talent.
The sweet woman appeared on stage and she looked a little shy, but at the same time, it was obvious that she was determined to get the judges’ attention with her voice.
Simon was the judge she introduced herself to and when he asked her why she came all the way from where she lives to the show, she opened up and shared her truth with the judges, the audience and the viewers from home.
“You know,” she said, “I don’t wanna not believe in myself and not try. [My dream is] to inspire people, to make them feel that you don’t have to be anything else but yourself.”
And, although her words touched the judges, they were still doubtful about whether Kristen was as talented as she believed she was.
And when she started singing only moments later, they knew that a star was born right there and then.
Kristen sang I See Red by Everybody Loves An Outlaw and she left both the judges and the audience speechless.
The tone of her voice, the maturity of her voice, along with the passion that she had when singing, made her look like fire to everyone who was watching and listening to her.
At the end of the performance, she got a standing ovation from the judges and she couldn’t be happier.
Everyone had a positive comment on her performance, and she got four yeses.
“I was surprised because we have a lot of overconfident singers who come here and they’re dreadful,” Simon said. “Then you come out and your voice is what I would call seasoned, you know? You’re not like someone just starting. Your range, your tone. You have great taste by the way, ‘cause it was a great choice of song.”
Sofia and Heidi admitted that they would love to have her voice, while Howie added: “You open your mouth and you’re on fire.”
Kristen and her parents who were there supporting her couldn’t hold back their tears when they were hearing the judges praising the young singer.
And, while viewers were happy that she was given the ticket to the second round, many were disappointed because she didn’t get the golden buzzer.
“I wish I was a judge, she deserves a golden star, her voice is out of this world,” a YouTube user commented.
For now, we’ll be waiting to see Kristen in the second round and enjoy her amazing voice one more time.
