Escaping into the forest is an idea that may occasionally cross our minds. Whether we need a few hours of solace or a full-on weekend getaway, the forest is a place where we can simply relax and unwind. It offers plenty of room for walking, camping, and escaping the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Sometimes, a few moments of alone time is all we need to recharge for a potentially long week ahead.
If you’re strapped on time and looking for a bit of a getaway without actually leaving the house, we have the perfect solution, sure to transport your mind to a place far, far away.
A 1964 song from the famous singer and songwriter duo, Simon and Garfunkel, received a revamp that is even more calming than the original.
Set amongst a tranquil forest, Canadian composer and guitarist, Jamie Dupuis, performs his version of the fan-favorite song “The Sound of Silence.” The final result is nothing short of breathtaking.
Spring came early because he’s just brought the forest back to life. We just hope the local squirrels and deer were able to appreciate this man’s talents.
It’s 3 minutes and 46 seconds of soothing musical bliss, guaranteed to calm even the most hectic of minds.
Although we can appreciate the literal sound of silence, or I guess the lack of sounds in silence, this rendition is far more calming than just empty noise. Peaceful music and beautiful scenery, what more could we possibly want?
Dupuis’s musical career began at the age of six when he started learning musical theory on the piano. His passion for music was instantly fueled when he received his first guitar at the age of 14. Inspired by rock legends such as Metallica and Nirvana, Dupuis went on to practice eight hours almost every day.
All those hours of practice were not in vain because he has some serious acoustic talent. He’s even rocking an 18-string guitar!
That can’t be an easy feat. Learning to play an instrument with that many strings undoubtedly took years of discipline and patience. Honestly, I wasn’t even aware that a guitar could house 18 strings.
Luckily for us, we can reap the musical benefits without having to put in any of the work, and it’s all completely free.
YouTube never ceases to amaze us with its abundance of free musical goodness. Since we can’t attend live concerts, we can at least enjoy the next best thing – free performances in the comfort of our own homes. That’s what we consider a win-win situation.
This rendition is so pleasing that it already has 13 million views on YouTube alone, but it doesn’t stop there.
Dupuis has his own YouTube channel with over 295 thousand subscribers. He uploads several songs per month, so his fans never have to run out of their favorite musical content.
Dupuis is so good that he won first place at the 2016 Canadian Guitar Festival Competition. He’s even recorded his own album, Inspired by a Dream. Dupuis went on to earn a full musical scholarship through Hollywood’s Musician Institute and even performed at the 2016 Pan American Games in Toronto.
